For years, I’ve been a devoted fan of the spy-thriller genre. I love the intricate plots, the high-stakes action, and the razor’s edge a hero must walk between duty and personal morality in the worlds created by authors like Mark Greaney and Gregg Hurwitz. But a question began to form in my mind: What would a hero look like whose personal identity was one not often seen in the shadows of espionage? Drawing from my own experience as a gay man, I decided to answer that question, creating a hero who is not only a formidable operative but also an unapologetic representation of a community that has always served.
